Disney To Re-Boot Mary Poppins

Disney have confirmed a re-boot of the much-loved “Mary Poppins” movie is on the way.  Based on the children’s books penned by J.L. Travers, the movie was released in 1964 starring Julie Andrews.  She played the English nanny Mary Poppins who moves in with the Banks family.  Last year, it celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

Julie Andrews won the “Best Actress” Oscar for her role and was nominated for 13 Oscars in total.  Rumour has it the reboot which feature new songs instead of the classic soundtrack like “A Spoonful of Sugar” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious”.

Matthew Garber who played the little boy Michael Banks sadly died at the age of 21 after hepatitis during a trip to India in 1977.  Karen Dotice, who played his on-screen sister Jane Banks, was indicted as Disney legend in 2004 to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary.
